Replacing seals on a press: the customer's request
A customer contacted us to replace all the sealing elements in a cylinder’s press, sending us an envelope with all the items to be replaced. Our technicians, after a preliminary analysis of the seals, requested some basic information to the customer, otherwise a correct replacing delivery would not have been possible.
Replacing of press’seals: the necessary information
After assessing the available information (dimension and material of the seals), the customer provided us with some necessary additional data: groove dimensions (which may not coincide with seals dimensions, worn due to the work performed), operating conditions (temperature, pressure, speed), and the position in which the cylinder was working.
Once these data was obtained, it was possible for us to proceed with the identification of the right sealing elements, capable of guaranteeing the maintenance and the correct restart of the press.
Replacing seals: which information is needed to choose the correct sealing element.
When, following a malfunction or a simple maintenance, you need to replace one or more seals, it is essential to provide several pieces of information:
- Groove and seals dimension
- Material (PU, Rubbercloth, Ptfe, filled Ptfe, etc.)
- Exercise condition (temperature, pressure, speed)
- Fluid in contact with the seals
- Codes on cylinder or seals
- Manufacturer's markings
- Any faults or problem encountered
