ITALDRON mission: Italdron Srl is a Ravenna (Italy) based company which produces intelligent multirole UAVs designed to acquire and transmit images and other sensor data, making them available to ground operators.
Italdron-made "Scrabble" is a rotating-wing micro-class UAV with four rotors design optimized for "in-hand" take
off and landing (standard take off is also available) measuring 65 x 65 x 11 cm and weighting 1,3 kg AUW, capable
of operating in a wide range of scenarios and which can driven manually or in autonomous flight mode.
Numerous design and development choices have been led by a long expertise,
growth in real-world scenarios like aerial video productions and data gathering in earthquake zones,
over-the-sea scenarios, indoor photography, power lines inspections.
Reduced dimensions and weight,
obtained by using advanced composite materials and state-of-the-art electronics,
make this UAV versatile and safe thus not necessarily affecting operational capabilities.
Scrabble UAV is designed to operate in rain, snow,
dirt conditions and in average wind (up to ~5 m/s), thanks to a unique, sealed,
rugged body made of carbon fiber providing an extremely low drag coefficient making it very
stable in windy conditions.
Thanks to high payload and latest generation sensors' miniaturization,
it is possible to equip Scrabble with a wide
range of optical HD video,
thermal and IR sensors and digital datalink transmission and datalog devices.
A Ground Control Station (GCS) can be provided as well, which can provide long range,
live video and real-time data display.
Thanks to a robust, bidirectional datalink, a telemetry system showing UAV's vital data (remaining
flight time, GPS coordinates, etc) and waypoint mission's coordinates, is also available
Advanced active and passive safety solutions, like "Return-To-Home" functions,
low impact energy and breakable
prop retaining system, make Scrabble the only light UAV ensuring a non-lethal impact.
Unlike most current light civil UAV/UAS, mainly designed for movie productions, Italdron's
Scrabble is the only one to offer both an integrated system, suitable to a wide range of today's
scenarios thus maintaining high safety and reliability standards, compact dimensions and low
operating costs and an open platform, ready to develop future tasks.
Italdron is actively developing Scrabble project, in which important milestones will be reached
