Press fittings are a system for joining pipes with fittings that are joined by electromechanical pressing machines. Pressing permanently deforms the fitting on the pipe, realising the mechanical seal. The pressing process ensures consistent quality connections using minimal physical effort by the operator.
Why is it used?
The press fitting cuts down on construction time and is safe: joining takes place at room temperature, does not involve glues, resins or open flames, allowing the installer to work safely even in contact with flammable materials or substances. Pressing takes from 5 seconds for small diameters to 40 for the largest diameter, significantly reducing installation time for companies using it. Another important aspect is that the fittings, once pressed, immediately reach their stability: once the last fitting is pressed, the system can be tested, thus avoiding costs and downtime.
How is it used?
The electromechanical gripper acts on the fitting by pressing it onto the pipe, by jaws. The connection is permanent and non-reversible. The pressing time and the force applied to the fittings are automated, guaranteeing a perfectly pressed fitting. The battery-operated versions of the pressing machines and their low weight further facilitate the work of the installer.
